Staff Profile

Hello families, 

My name is Susan Boen, but the students call me Ms. Boen or Ms. B. 

I am working with grades 3-5 and am very excited to be at Jie Ming. 

I have taught ELL for 12 years and have experience in elementary and high school.  I attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in Int’l Relations in 1996.  I taught English and worked at Johns Hopkins University in Bologna, Italy.  I lived in Italy for 7 years before returning to the US and I love traveling and learning about different cultures.  I have worked in the corporate world as well as academia.  I got my ESL teaching degree and Masters in ESL in 2012.  I love being a language teacher and enjoy learning about students and their families. 

I love working out, walking, and dancing outside of school.
