Mr. Karau

MEET MR. KARAU

Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s),

Hello my name is Karl Karau and I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. This will be my third year here at Maxfield Elementary. I have had the great opportunity of meeting the excellent staff here and working with the great diverse population of students. I will be working with your child encouraging them to become the best they can be both academic and socially. I am HUGE on RESPECT not only in our school, but also in our community.

For this year to be a success I need your cooperation and support. I will be sending home weekly homework assignments so please feel free to help your child out, take a look at it and make sure they are on the right track. Also, there will be a biweekly progress report that will describe each student’s academic and behavioral tendencies of that week. Please read with your child, sign it, and have them return it the following school day for credit.

I want all my students to do quality in all subjects throughout their school day. I will keep you informed through weekly News Letters on what is going on throughout the course of the school year so please read them and feel free to stop in at anytime for a visit, please sign in at the office prior to coming up to the classroom. If we are not in the classroom you can look at the schedule outside the classroom to find were we might be.

In addition to the academics, our school is a Responsive Classroom School, which means we have a school-wide management style that concentrates on the social aspect that encourages positive behavior. Some of these skills include cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control (C.A.R.E.S). I am excited to use this approach and truly believe that the system can work for all students.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this letter and you can be assured that I will give 110% in making sure your child is having fun learning. Please join us for any Celebrations that will be held in the classroom or school-wide. Don’t forget to call if you have any questions.
