Maxfiel has approximately 30 ELL students  stemming from a variety of cultural backgrounds and speaking a variety of heritage languages.  ELL services at Maxfield are a combination of pull-out classes as well as inclusion and collaboration where the ELL teacher works with the students in their mainstream classroom.  The mission of Maxfield's ELL program is to increase the academic English language of each student in all of the skill areas: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.  Maxfield's ELL program also strongly encourages student pride and respect for one's own first language.
