| Hello! We are thefirst graders in Room 104. We start our day with a Morning Meeting, where we build classroom community by greeting each other, sharing, and participating in group activities. The we spend 3O minutes in a reading skills (phonics) block and move on to our Reader's Workshop for another hour daily.
After lunch and a 20 minute recess, we have Writer's Workshop and handwriting for an hour. Then we spend 50 minutes with one of three specialists in Science, Global Studies, or Physical Education (these subjects rotate every third day). The last hour of eaach day is dedicated to Math Workshop, with daily lessons and skill-building math games. We also go the Computer Lab twice each week.
